Most grits lovers don't know that this Southern treat was originally derived from rice grains rather than from kernels of corn. Congaree and Penn is reintroducing the tradition of rice grits. Hand ground on our red granite stone mill, our Jupiter rice grits are just as Southern as their corn counterparts.
Just around the corner from downtown Jacksonville, Congaree and Penn began as a rice farm. It’s flourished into acres of mayhaw orchards, olive orchards, vineyards and fruit fields. It's also become a home to thousands of honeybees, a few dozen fancy chickens, peafowl, Guinea fowl and two goats.
